Following months of speculation, National Express Group (NX) has confirmed a 120-bus order for delivery in the second half of 2011, worth £21.5m.
Manufacturers ADL and Volvo with its body partner Wrights are the beneficiaries this year, with the order being almost divided between the two.
ADL will supply 50 of its popular Enviro 400 double-deckers, joining the 60 such vehicles already in the fleet, while Volvo will deliver 52 single-deck Wright-bodied B7RLEs, supplementing the 38 already in service.
Also included in the order are18 hybids, half of which will be ADL Enviro 400Hs and the reminder Wright Eclipse Gemini 2-bodied Volvo B5LHs. As previously reported, the hybrids are due to operate on Harborne routes 22 and 23 from Birmingham Central Garage, although details of where the remainder of the order is destined have yet to be announced.
